The Company also conducts research and development related to aerogel technology supported by funding from several agencies of the United States government and other institutions in the form of research and development contracts. The Company’s end-use customers select its products where thermal performance is critical, and to save money, reduce energy use, preserve operating assets and protect workers. The Company’s two principal products, Pyrogel and Cryogel, are used by many of the oil producers, and the owners and operators of refineries, petrochemical plants, LNG facilities, power generating assets and other energy infrastructure. It also derives product revenue from the building and construction and other end markets. It generates product revenue through the sale of its line of aerogel blankets.
