The Cushing MLP Total Return Fund (the Fund) is a non-diversified, closed-end investment company. The Fund`s investment objective is to seek to produce current income and capital appreciation. The Fund invests in at least 8% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in master limited partnership (MLP) investments; up to 5% of its managed assets in securities of MLPs and other natural resource companies that are not publicly traded, or that are otherwise restricted securities; up to 2% of its managed assets in securities of companies that are not MLPs, including other natural resource companies, and the United States and non-United States issuers, and up to 2% of its managed assets in debt securities of MLPs, other natural resource companies and other issuers. Cushing Asset Management, LP acts as the investment adviser of the Fund.
