The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Index measures the performance of manufacturing sector in the state of Texas. The index is derived from a survey of around 100 business executives and tracks variables such as output, employment, orders and prices. A reading above 0 indicates an expansion of the factory activity compared to the previous month; below 0 represents a contraction; while 0 indicates no change. Texas produces around 9.5 percent of manufacturing output in US. The state ranks second behind California in factory production and first as an exporter of manufactured goods.

The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Home Price Index measures changes in residential house prices in 20 metropolitan regions in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa and Washington D.C.

Durable Goods Orders refer to new orders placed with manufacturers for delivery of hard goods which meant to last at least three years.

In Spain, the Industrial Confidence Indicator (ICI) measures the level of optimism of entrepreneurs for the future development of industrial activity. The ICI is conducted based on the sample of 2500 enterprises representing different sizes, regions and sectors of Spanish economy. The response rate is around 60 percent. ICI is measured on a scale of -100 (extreme lack of confidence) to +100 (extreme confidence).

The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) monthly retail sales balance is a gauge of retail sales versus a year ago. The reading is compiled from a survey of about 150 retail and wholesale companies. It includes measures of sales activity across the distributive trades. It is a leading indicator of consumer spending. The figure is the difference between the percentage of retailers reporting an increase in sales and those reporting a decrease.

In the Euro Area, the Economic sentiment indicator is a composite measure (average=100) that calculates the confidence level among: manufacturers (40 percent of the index); service providers (30 percent); consumers (20 percent); retailers (5 percent) and constructors (5 percent).

In Poland, the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as a percentage of the labour force.

In France, the most important category in the consumer price index is services (48 percent of total weight), in particular rents, water and garbage collection (8 percent), health services (7 percent), transport (2 percent), and communication (2 percent). The index also includes: manufactured products (24 percent) such as medical products (4 percent) and clothing and footwear (3 percent); food (16 percent); energy (9 percent) such as petroleum products (4 percent); and tobacco (2 percent).

The GfK Consumer Climate Indicator is based on a survey of 2000 individuals age 14 and above. The questionnaire focuses on income expectations, buying propensity and savings. The components of the indicator are calculated as the difference between positive and negative answers to the questions asked. Their value can vary between minus 100 and plus 100 points with 0 representing the long term average.

In Brazil, interest rate decisions are taken by The Central Bank of Brazil's Monetary Policy Committee (COPOM). The official interest rate is the Special System of Clearance and Custody rate (SELIC) which is the overnight lending rate.

Mexico's main exports are manufactured products (88 percent of total shipments) , followed by oil and oil products (7 percent), the agricultural sector with (4 percent). The country's top trading partner is the United States (72 percent of total exports and 38 percent of total imports). Others include: China, Japan and Germany. In 2022, trade between Mexico and the United States reached USD 738 billion, with Mexico posting a surplus of near USD 208 billion.

In the Euro Area, the Negotiated Wage Growth indicator refers to the weighted average of the national year-on-year growth rates of collectively agreed wages. It is designed to capture the outcome of collective bargaining processes and to provide a timely indicator of possible wage pressures (without the effect of wage drift, i.e. the difference between negotiated and actual wages). The data are based on the most suitable and timely available country data (a mixture of monthly and quarterly series): monthly data are available for seven countries (Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and Slovenia, representing 69% of the euro area) and quarterly data for three countries (Belgium, France, Finland, representing 29% of the euro area).

In China, Foreign Direct Investment refers to foreign capital actually utilized, which is to the amount which has been actually used according to the agreements and contracts, including cash, materials and invisible capital such as labor service and technology which both parties agree to take as an investment.

In France, the consumer confidence index is based on a survey of about 2 000 households. The questionnaire focuses on: past and future economic situation in France, past and future personal financial situation, unemployment, intention to make major purchases, current savings capacity and expected savings capacity. The indicator is calculated using factor analysis technique. The index is then calculated in a way to measure the current sentiment in relation to the historic index values of the period 1987-2011. A value over 110 indicates unusually high optimism and a value under 90 indicates unusually high pessimism. The value 100 indicates neutrality.

Initial jobless claims refer to the number of people who have filed for unemployment benefits with their state's unemployment agency for the first time during a specific reporting period, typically on a weekly basis. .

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) is designed to gauge overall economic activity and related inflationary pressure. The CFNAI is based on a weighted average of 85 existing monthly indicators of national economic activity. It has an average value of zero and a standard deviation of one. Since economic activity tends toward trend growth rate over time, a positive reading corresponds to growth above trend and a negative reading corresponds to growth below trend.

In the United Kingdom, the Confederation of British Industry‘s Industrial Trends Survey of total order book balance tracks changes in the level of factory orders from around 500 companies across 38 sectors of manufacturing industry. The survey covers domestic and export orders, stocks, price, investment intentions and output expectations. For each variable, manufacturers are asked if present situation is above normal, normal or below normal. The results are presented as a weighted percentage balance, that is, the difference between the percentage of respondents replying more or up to each question minus the percentage replying less or down.

The S&P Global Australia Manufacturing PMI is compiled by S&P Global from responses to monthly questionnaires sent to purchasing managers in a panel of around 400 manufacturers. The survey is made by phone and covers 23 000 households in the Euro Area. The number of households sample varies across the zone. The questions focus on current economic and financial situation, savings intention as well as on expected developments regarding: consumer price indexes, general economic situation and major purchases of durable goods. The Consumer ESI measures consumer confidence on a scale of -100 to 100, where -100 indicate extreme lack of confidence, 0 neutrality and 100 extreme confidence.

It also excludes the effect of changes in indirect taxes.

In Spain, the Consumer Confidence survey is made by phone and covers 1,000 individuals aged over 16 who are representative of Spanish society as a whole. The questionnaire focuses on current economic and financial situation, savings intention as well as on expected developments regarding general and personal economic situation and major purchases of durable goods. The index shows the difference between the percentage share of persons that are optimistic and the percentage of persons that are pessimistic. The index measures consumer confidence on a scale of 0 to 200, where 0 indicates extreme lack of confidence, 100 neutrality and 200 extreme confidence.

In Turkey, Consumer Tendency Survey aims to measure present situation assessments and future period expectations of consumers' on personal financial standing and general economic course and to determine consumers' expenditure and saving tendencies for near future. The survey covers a randomly selected sample of all individuals at the age of 15 and above having a job in urban and rural areas. The index is evaluated between 0 and 200. The reading above 100 means consumers are optimistic and below 100 are pessimistic.
