The Net Long-Term TIC Flows track the flow of Treasury and agency securities, corporate bonds and equities, into and out of the United States.

The Index of Consumer Expectations focuses on three areas: how consumers view prospects for their own financial situation, how they view prospects for the general economy over the near term, and their view of prospects for the economy over the long term. New York Empire State Manufacturing Index is based on data compiled from the survey of 200 executives from the companies in the manufacturing sector in the New York State. Participants report the change in 11 indicators including level of general business activity, new orders, shipments, inventories, number of employees, delivery time, capital expenditure from the previous month and the likely direction of these indicators in six months. A reading above 0 indicates manufacturing activity is expanding, below 0 is contracting.

The indicator varies on a scale of 0 to 100 where 50 indicates neutrality, 0 indicates extreme lack of confidence and 100 extreme confidence.

MBA 30-Year Mortgage Rate is average 30-year fixed mortgage lending rate measured during the reported week and backed by the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Poland’s 38-million consumer market is one of the biggest in Europe. Poland's main industries are: food and beverage processing, shipbuilding and the manufacture of machinery, iron and steel products, chemicals, glass and textiles. Consumer price changes in India can be very volatile due to dependence on energy imports, the uncertain impact of monsoon rains on its large farm sector, difficulties transporting food items to market because of its poor roads and infrastructure and high fiscal deficit. The BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor measures changes in the actual value of retail sales from a sample of retailers. The Monitor measures the value of spending and hence does not adjust for price changes. If prices are rising, sales volumes will increase by less than sales values. In times of price deflation, sales volumes will increase by more than sales values. Retailers report the value of their sales and sales in the equivalent week a year ago. These figures are reported both in total and on a ‘like-for-like’ basis. The percentage increase in the value of sales on a ‘like-for-like’ basis removes the effect of the expansion of retail floor space by the retailers concerned on their sales total. Due to the sample being biased towards large retailers, the ‘like-for-like’ increase usually provides a more accurate guide to general spending patterns, though it will be biased downwards as an estimate of the growth rate for retail as a whole.

Italy’s main exports include base metals, chemicals, transportation equipment, and pharmaceutical goods, while the main imports are machinery and energy. The largest exporting partners are France, Germany, and the United States, while the main importing partners are Germany, France, China, and OPEC nations.

Last revision took place in 2011.

Health, Communication, Education, Restaurants & Hotels and Miscellaneous Goods & Services account for 16% of the total weight.

Russia is one of the world's leading producers of oil and natural gas and is also a top exporter of metals such as steel and primary aluminum. On the production side, services are the biggest sector of the economy and account for 58 percent of GDP. Within services the most important segments are: wholesale and retail trade (17 percent of total GDP); and public administration, health and education (12 percent). Industry constitutes 40 percent to total output and agriculture accounts for the remaining 2 percent.

Measures of average consumer confidence can be useful indicators of how much consumers are likely to spend.

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is an economic index which measures the month to month variation in economic activity as indicated by a panel of purchasing managers from across Canada, and is prepared by the Ivey Business School at Western University. The PMI includes both the public and private sectors and is based on month end data Ivey PMI panel members indicate whether their organizations activity is higher than, the same as, or lower than the previous month across the following five categories: purchases, employment, inventories, supplier deliveries and prices. A value above 50 indicates an increase in purchases from the previous month and a value below 50 indicates a decrease.

In the United States, the productivity of nonfarm workers is measured as the output of goods and services per hour worked. Labor productivity is calculated by dividing an index of real output by an index of hours worked of all persons, including employees, proprietors, and unpaid family workers.

Labor Costs refers to the relationship between compensation per hour and labor productivity, or real output per hour, and can be used as an indicator of inflationary pressure on producers.

In Mexico, the most important categories in the CPI basket are Nonfood Goods (19.7 percent of the total weight); Housing (18.7 percent) and Other Services (18.4 percent). Food, Beverages and Tobacco account for 14.8 percent and Energy for 9.5 percent. Others include: Products subsidized by the government (5.3 percent); Education (5.1 percent); Meat and Eggs (4.8 percent) and Fruits and Vegetables (3.7 percent). The CPI index has a base of 100 as of December of 2010. The national index tracks 46 large, medium and small cities.
